2008 SUMMER RECREATION PROGRAM

This program is open to children entering kindergarten through 6th grade for the 2008-2009 school year. Brief program description. The program will be held at Florence L. Walther School grounds and the Village Green Park.  The program has two options: Option 1 is from 8:30am until 12:30pm, and Option 2 is from 8:30am until 3:00pm.  There is also a lunch option that is available, see lunch selection.  The program begins on June 23rd and will end August 1st.  Sessions will be held in 2 week increments, however, you may purchase a one week session, as well as early drop off.  You may attend as many sessions as you like.  The program includes; art, nature and environmental studies, games and physical education.  Check out the program calendar and special event calendar. Registrations are now being accepted for this program.  Registration deadline is May 18th- no exceptions!  Program space is limited.  Credit cards are accepted.

Mad Science Summer Camps

This camp will run from 9am - 12noon in the Township Community Room on August 4th-8th.  Space- The Next Mission will introduce kids to the building of flying machines.  The children will build balloon-copters, boomerangs, and ultimately a skywinder rocket. Fee: $140

This camp is available to children entering Kindergarten thru 5th grades in September 2008.

TENNIS 1-2-3                                                                                                                          

Instructions will be held on Tuesday’s and Rally ball play will be on Thursday's for ages 6 to 9 from 5pm-5:50pm and ages 10 to 16 from 6pm-6:50pm.This 6 week program will begin on June 17th.  Fee: $45 resident $55 non resident. 

Adult Program
This Tennis 1-2-3program for players 17 and over will be held on Tuesday’s at the Village Green beginning June 17th. Adult Team Tennis will be incorporated into the instruction so that player’s can apply their skills in game situations. Teams will be formed and will play other local teams in Burlington County.

ADULT GOLF INSTRUCTION

Lumberton Recreation and Springfield Golf Center are partnering to offer adult instructional lessons for all skill levels.  Programs such as beginner clinics, ladies only classes, and short game instruction will be offered under the supervision of PGA pro, Mike Beal.

STICKS FOR KIDS

Lumberton Recreation and Golf Course Builders Association of America are partnering with Springfield Golf Center in the Sticks for Kids pilot program.  We are currently offering instructional classes for ages 6-17 at Springfield Golf Center, under the supervision of PGA pro, Mike Beal.  As a program participant, Lumberton Recreation has received 10 sets of junior golf clubs that will be made available to our residents during scheduled instruction.  We will be offering a variety of classes and clinics throughout the Soring and Summer.  All skill levels are welcome and encouraged to take advantage of this great opportunity.

OUTDOOR SOCCER

This program is open to children who are entering K-8th grades in the 2008-2009 school year.  Practices will begin in August, games will be in September and October 2008.  We will not be holding assessments this year  Fee: $60 resident/ $70 non resident.

CHESS SUMMER CAMP

This program is open to children ages 6 and up and all levels are welcome.  Silver Knights Chess Co. is offering full and half day camps.  Camps will be held in the Twp. Community Room from July 28, 2008- August 1, 2008/  Full day schedule is 9am-4pm, half day camp is from 9am-12pm, or 1pm-4pm.  Instructors include a two-time U.S. Open champion and the current state champions of AZ and PA.  Each camper will receive a t-shirt and tournament style chess set.  Fee: $300 full day/ $175 half day

LUMBERTON ALL-SPORT SPEED & CONDITIONING CAMP

An innovative and intense speed camp developed to enhance the athletes speed for any sport!  Learn how to run faster and efficiently for: football, soccer, softball, track, basketball, baseball, lacrosse & tennis.  Each athlete will receive 4 days of training, 2 hours each day of instructional lessons on how to improve their speed for all sports.  A total of 8 hours of training that will improve your athletic agility and basic conditioning.  Dates are July 7-10 or July 14-17 from 8:30am unti 10:30am for ages 6 to 10 and 11 to 17. The fee for this program is $125.00 for the week.

GLAMOUR CLUB FOR GIRLS

This five week course, starting July 12, will be available to girls ages 6-11.  The program will cover social graces, proper etiquette, diet and nutrition, hair and nail care maintenance, basic modeling, and photo shoot.

PONY GROOMING AND RIDING PROGRAM

This week long program is available for children ages 7-11, starting August 18th-22nd, 4:30pm-6pm.  Some of the horsemanship matters covered will include: safety on and around horses, basic anatomy, equine senses and body language, grooming, the tack and the harness, driving the miniature horse, and barn management.  Some short riding will also be done in each session.  This program enhances teamwork, self esteem, and camaraderie while helping to develop  a genuine appreciation and respect for the animals.  Proper attire must be worn: long pants, strong (hiking type) shoes and bicycle helmet.  Space is limited, so register early.

TUMBLIN TOTS

This program focuses on building motor skills and coordination while children are having fun and developing social skils.  Classes will involve movement, gymnastics, games, listening, and cooperation. This 6 week program will begin July 2nd.  Fee: $60 resident / $70 non resident.

LUMBERTON SENIORS

The Lumberton Township Recreation Department is hosting a trip to the Hunterdon Hills Playhouse to see "My Three Angels."  The trip is scheduled for Wednesday, September 24, 2008.  The cost is $75 per ticket and includes transportation, admission to the playhouse, and a full course luncheon.  A minimum of 40 people is needed to run the trip.
